What is MainStreet?

We       Coronado Businesses!


Coronado MainStreet is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Coronado's historic downtown district. The story of Coronado MainStreet begins with the establishment of the National Main Street Center in 1980, which aimed to promote economic development and preservation of historic commercial districts across the United States. Inspired by this initiative, local community members in Coronado, California, came together to form Coronado MainStreet in 1988.

Coronado MainStreet's mission seeks to enhance the vitality and economic prosperity of Coronado's downtown area while preserving its unique character and charm. The organization works towards achieving this mission through various initiatives, including historic preservation, economic development, promotion, and community engagement.

One of the primary focuses of Coronado MainStreet is historic preservation. The organization recognizes the importance of preserving the architectural heritage and cultural significance of the downtown district. Through partnerships with property owners, local government, and other stakeholders, Coronado MainStreet works to protect historic buildings, ensuring they remain an integral part of the community's identity.
